My more dedicated readers may have noticed that there was not a blog post this past Sunday. I wanted to write a quick post to let you know that I’m going to make an adjustment to my blogging schedule for the month of August and maybe even into September. Rather than publishing twice a week (Sunday & Thursday), I’ll only be publishing once a week (Thursday).
Both my boys are playing soccer this year and the practices have already started. This will consume large portions of 3 days each week throughout August and September. We are also on the countdown to school starting (18 days). Plus I have 3 fantasy football drafts to prepare for. (I had a disappointing season last year, I need to bounce back.)
Since the next few weeks will be a little crazy, I don’t want my posts to suffer. So rather than write simply for the sake of sticking to my schedule, I’d rather put my time into fewer well thought out out posts.
What to Expect
Despite my slimmed down schedule, I’m excited for what’s on tap for this month. Next week I’ll have another edition of the Random Questions Challenge. With a very special guest, in fact, I’ve been hoping to have him on the blog since I first conceived of my Random Questions Series. Then I’ll wrap the month up with my reflections on being a Summer at Home Dad. Before finally tackling how I’m damaging my kids. (At least one of the ways I might be damaging them.)
More Random House Keeping
While I’m doing some housekeeping, I wanted to thank the commenters on my most recent post: Help a Guy Out!
I plan on writing a more in depth post about the FI community, but I was once again reminded of how lucky I am to have found this amazing group of people. I received some very thoughtful and thought provoking responses. It has really helped me reframe how I’m looking at my FI journey.
So thank you to Duke of Dollars, Your Average Dough, Budget on a Stick, OthalaFehu, and Mrs. Waffles on Wednesday. And a special thank you to Peter and Chrissy! Two of my awesome readers who I’ve had the good fortune to connect with via e-mail. I appreciate your continued support!
Best in Show
During the next month or two, while my blogging schedule is abbreviated, I will be trying something new out on the blog. If you follow me on Twitter, you have likely come across my Best in Show tweets.
This is an opportunity for me to share my favorite blog posts from the week with my twitter followers. While I think there is a lot of overlap between my blogging audience and my twitter readership, I know at least a few of my readers aren’t on twitter.
In hopes that everyone can get value from these great posts, I thought it might be a good idea to do a Best in Show Round Up Post. There are quite a few bloggers who have been very creative in their take on “the round up post.” I will not be flexing my creative muscles.
In true minimalistic fashion, my Best in Show Round Up will be simple. I won’t be writing any additional content, just a list of the weekly winners with links to the accompanying post. If it ends up being popular, I’ll keep it going once I return to a twice a week publishing schedule.
Hopefully, I won’t do too many of these behind the scenes housekeeping posts. But I did want to keep my readers up to date as to what is going on with the blog and to see a bit of my thought process behind some of these decisions. If you are still reading, I appreciate you indulging me.
UPDATE: My apologies to everyone on my e-mail distribution list. I accidentally sent out 3 blog posts this morning, 2 of which have been taken down, since they weren’t ready for publication. So if you click on the link in the email, you won’t be able to access the post. However, you did get a free preview of what’s coming your way. You’d think I’d have this auto-post thing down by now.
